Al Roker took it upon himself to honor this year's Maryland Principal of the Year. He had heard about Taiisha Swinton-Buck and how she devotes herself to bonding with her students. At Baltimore's Digital Harbor High School, she refers to her students as "a beacon of light". As a principal, she makes connections with her students via TikTok routines, leading by example on campus and making record-setting impacts in attendance, grade averages and graduation rates.
