The restaurant with a solution to homelessness on the menu
In 2016, Fat Macy's was created as a restaraunt and a catering service focused on training homeless people to set them up for a better future. Meg Doherty created this program to help people from getting trapped in temporary housing. By providing homeless people with a training program where they are taught all of the aspects of running and working in a restaraunt, she is giving them the skills they need to make it on their own. While they complete the 200 hour training program, they have the chance to earn a deposit for a rented home, build their confidence and gain valuable work experience.
