Nebraska Teen Runner Helps Competitor Finish Race After He Collapsed, Forfeiting His Own District Medal Hopes
At one of the final Cross Country races for the season, two boys were running very different races. Senior Brandon Schutt wanted to run a good race where he could enjoy crossing the finish line for the last time. On the other hand, Sophomore Blake Cerveny was running to brake his personal record. He pushed himself so hard that his legs failed him and he was stuck on the ground. Schutt noticed Cerveny struggling and decided to help him finish the race. Schutt pulled him onto his feet and walked him the rest of the race. In today's world it is rare to see someone forgo the competition to help a stranger finish the race.
