Two years ago the Macquarie River stopped running near Warren, in the New South Wales Central West. After this a fire struck the marshes, leaving the area destroyed. After two years of steady rainfall, the marshes were able to regain their beauty, and now their wildlife. Now, in 2021 the University of New South Wales in Sydney found that most of the bird life was returning, including magpie geese, green teal, straw-necked ibis, intermediate egret, rufous night heron, royal spoonbill, and other ducks and waterfowl.
