In this episode of The Good Complex, our host, Jeff Jones, is joined by Posture Shift founder Bill Henson. Posture Shift is an organization focusing on how to welcome youth in the LGBTQ community into the church. Their focus is to bring these youth back to their faith in times of trouble. When Henson was creating this organization, he decided to focus on LGBTQ youth because so many of these kids face unacceptance when they come out. His goal is to provide these kids with a place they can feel comfortable and accepted as well as help them reconnect with their loved ones.

In the Church, there are two very different opinions on whether LGBTQ community members are accepted. Posture Shift focuses on loving these community members to make sure they know they are welcome, no matter what. Not only is their focus on acceptance in the church, but also to help these kids feel accepted by their families. They help parents realize that they are not alone and to think about what their child is going through. The job of a parent is to love their child, so this change should not affect that. In the family and in the family of God, they make it apparent that no one should be rejecting a child of God. This powerful conversation seeks to find some common ground for our common good. Not only do we need to be more accepting of LGBTQ members, but of all people who are different than us.
