California man sacrifices himself in zip line fall in heroic attempt to save woman, friend says
The 34-year-old, Joaquin Romero, chose to perform a completely selfless act while working a typical day at La Jolla Zip Zoom. When a customer slipped off the deck onto the zip line with Romero holding on to her, he knew that he would have to let go to save her line. Hanging about a hundred feet above ground, he let go so she could shimmy her way back to safety. He was later transported to the hospital where he died two days later. Luckily, his kind act did save the woman's life.
